Puppet Show Set Up

Ideal Audience Size

30 - 90 people

Target Audiences
  • Pre-K through 3rd Grade

  • Family Events

  • Autistic children and adults

Performance Space

Ideally at least 12' wide x 8' deep

Multi-purpose rooms, empty classrooms, meeting rooms, black box theaters, and school libraries are all great options.

Gyms, lunchrooms, and large theatre spaces are not recommended because of the smaller scale of the puppet show and acoustics.

Audience Seating

The performance is best viewed from the front. Seating on the sides of the performance space is not recommended. Children typically sit on the floor with a line of masking tape showing how close they can sit.

The show is interactive, but everything can be done while the audience is sitting. The audience will sing and talk, make sound effects with their voice and hands, and play peek-a-boo games with the puppets.

Sound Set Up

None necessary. I have a strong voice and prefer not to use a mic. If the venue has a wireless hands-free mic that they would prefer I use for a large audience or accessibility, I'm happy to do that.

Additional Set Up
  • One or two tables for puppet making.

  • For community performances - one table to set out informational materials and free fidgets.

Single Performance Schedule

For a single performance, please reserve the space for a minimum of 2 hours.

  • 45 minutes - Set up

  • 30 minutes - Puppet show

  • 15 minutes - Puppet making activity

  • 30 minutes - Pack up

Scheduling Multiple Performances

If scheduling at single location on the same day, it's best to set up the performance in a single space and have audiences come to the space.

15 minutes between performances is enough time to reset.

Here are some sample schedules. Breaks between shows can also be longer to fit the school/organization's scheduling needs.
